It's a bummer about the Junior Ranger program. That sounds like it was a great thing.

You say once you're done with an idea, you're done. I can very much relate to this. But I've been thinking recently that I should re-read my stuff more. I feel like it could help me get better. Do you ever re-read your writing?
Junior Rangers was great fun and a chance to be outdoors as a teenager. I earned a couple thousand dollars that summer and basically saved it all, since there was nothing to spend it on in northern Canada. It's a shame the government ended the program. My dad had done it too as a young man.
I edit and revise old posts on Substack to make them more readable. I haven't gone back and read my journals from 25 years ago, but I imagine they will be cringey.
To some extent, you should probably cringe at least a little bit at your old writing because otherwise it might mean that you're the same person you were in the past, which isn't a great thing.
